AL HUDEC ON NEW RULES FOR INCOME TRUST CONVERSIONS
On July 14, 2008, the federal Department of Finance released a discussion draft of new rules to facilitate the tax efficient conversion of an income trust to a public corporation. To date, such conversions have proceeded by way of taxable unit-for-shares exchanges, or pursuant to the cumbersome elective provisions of s. 85(1) of the Income Tax Act. There has been no effective tax deferred method of winding up an income fund.

Today, Farris Partners Bob Sloman, Gordon Love, and everyone at Farris raised over $15,000 at this year’s 10th Annual TD Bank Dunk Tank event. This is a record amount for Farris in our tenth year of participation. It was annouced that collectively, nearly $200,000 was raised, making this year's event the best ever.
